We regularly use microabrasion, an incredibly comfortable technology that has the ability to clean out tooth decay without the sounds, heat, pressure and vibration that typically accompany a traditional cleaning or cavity filling. Additionally, smaller cavities can be treated quickly without the use of local anesthesia, which means no needles! We also use laser diagnosis, which allows the dentist to “see” in the small grooves that form in teeth.
Our goal is always to prevent decay before it happens. This is especially important for our youngest patients. One of the best preventative measures a parent can make for their child is to have their hygienist apply dental sealants to their teeth.
A sealant is a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of molars, premolars and any deep grooves of teeth, where most tooth decay occurs. A sealant protects the tooth by sealing these deep grooves, creating a smooth, easy to clean surface.
There is no drilling required to apply a sealant; it is very simply painted on after the tooth has been cleaned. Sealants can last for as long as 3 to 5 years, but should be checked during regular dental hygiene appointments.
Regular dental care at an early age is crucial to your child’s future dental health. The experiences they have as young children will impact their feelings toward dentistry as adults. Our gentle and nurturing staff uses stateoftheart technology to make your child’s appointments as easy and comfortable- and yes, enjoyable- as possible. Our treatment rooms are equipped with heated massage chairs and TVs, to help keep your children happy and comfortable during their dental treatment.
