Whether you choose:

  • Traditional Metal Orthodontic Braces
  • Custom-Made Removable Appliances

Orthodontic treatment is used to correct crowded, crooked or misaligned teeth. While correcting these problems does result in a more attractive smile, the benefits to your lifelong dental health are much more important and reach far beyond cosmetics.

When an improper bite is left untreated, it can interfere with chewing and speaking and can lead to problems with the jaw. Additionally, crooked and crowded teeth are difficult to clean properly, leading to a greater chance for tooth decay.

Our orthodontic treatment can improve both the look and feel of your smile.

At Southcoast Smiles, we have over 20 years’ experience in orthodontic treatment for children as well as adults. Whether you choose traditional, clear (ceramic) braces or removable clear aligners, we’re sure we can help you improve the look and feel of your smile.

Removable Aligners

Clear Correct is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces. Clear Correct uses a series of clear removable Aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. It has been proven effective in clinical research and in orthodontic practices nationwide. In fact, over 70% of all U.S. orthodontists are certified to treat patients with Clear Correct.

How Does Clear Correct Work?

You wear each set of Aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position your Dentist has prescribed. You’ll visit your Dentist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of Aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

How Are Aligners Made?

You’d Be Amazed… The Aligners are made through a combination of your orthodontist’s expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology and constructed from strong, clear medical-grade plastic that provides a comfortable, unnoticeable fit.

Traditional (Metal) Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment. Metal braces are constructed using high-grade stainless steel and straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. Many patients choose to add colored bands to create a more unique smile during their treatment.
